The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida, invites applicants for multiple 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning lecturer or associate lecturer positions with an anticipated start date of December 21, 2023. The primary responsibility of the positions is teaching undergraduate courses in civil engineering, including engineering science (e.g., Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Materials) and core engineering (e.g., Engineering Economics, Estimating and Scheduling) courses. Secondary responsibilities include assessment related activities, service to the department, and may include teaching graduate courses in degree specialty to support the department. The selected candidates are expected to support the department's teaching mission.
With more than 1,200 undergraduate and 250 graduate students, CECE offers doctoral and master's programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and ABET-accredited bachelor's programs in Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering. Over 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and 5 lecturers conduct the instructional and research activities in addition to a vibrant community of adjunct faculty. An earned Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.
Appointment at the rank of associate lecturer requires at least 5 years of full-time university-level teaching experience.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior university-level teaching experience, previous engineering teaching experience with mechanics, economics, materials, or construction, and to those who possess or can obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States.
