Located on the downtown Orlando campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies provides programs and services focusing on the unique needs of women and babies. Orlando Health Winnie Palmer provides specialized care that covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. It is recognized by the World Health Organization and UNICEF as Baby-Friendly, is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission, is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care and is designated as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology and in Robotic Surgery. Orlando Health Winnie Palmer welcomes nearly 14,000 babies each year. The hospital's 350 beds include 142 neonatal intensive care beds, making it one of the largest neonatal intensive care units under one roof in the country.

Position Summary

Provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s).

Essential Functions

• Requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI). The PHI accessed is used for patient treatment, and healthcare operations purposes through direct contact with patients, family members, patients' medical records/charts, computer applications, and verbal reports from healthcare providers, and interaction with various hospital interdisciplinary team members.
• Documents interventions on the patient chart, including, but not limited to such information as referral source, spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up/referral plan.
• Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults.
• Provides crisis intervention and bereavement support for persons experiencing suffering, tragedy, or loss.
• Performs requested sacramental services, applicable chapel services, and/or arranges for the provision of these services by community clergy.

Education/Training

Master of Divinity preferred, or equivalent theological education.

Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/) Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for full time, two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for part-time, one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool. All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT

Licensure/Certification

Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions.
