Position Summary

The flagship location of Orlando Health Cancer Institute is the state-of-the-art, 10-story Charles Lewis Pavilion, with 60 medical and surgical oncology inpatient beds. This comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer facility contains all ambulatory and other services required for cancer care, from diagnosis through all phases of treatment and follow-up. Also located on the downtown Orlando campus, adjacent to the Orlando Health Cancer Institute, is the Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy — the only proton therapy center in Central Florida and one of five in the state.

Surgical Oncology Stepdown

The Surgical Oncology Department provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7-day a week basis. It has 30 inpatient beds located in the Charles Lewis Pavilion. Clinical activities include but are not limited to: IV therapy, antibiotic therapy, blood/blood products administration, respiratory therapy, surgical wound care, blood glucose monitoring, physical therapy, tracheostomy care and patient and family education. Patient to Nurse Ratio: 4:1

The Registered Nurse administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment.


Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
