NATURE OF WORK:
Performs skilled chemical spraying work at the various parks within the City. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for evaluating spraying requirements for insect and disease control, selecting proper herbicides and applying chemicals following approved techniques in order to maintain an effective control of undesirable vegetation and prevent damage to adjacent vegetation. In addition, performs normal maintenance functions related to overall preservation of park facilities and grounds. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed Program Manager or Field supervisor and is evaluated by observation of the results obtained.
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience in turf and/or woody, ornamental maintenance involving chemical application required; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Florida Public Restricted Pesticide license with Turf and Ornamental endorsements required upon hire. Limited and Right-of-way Endorsements are required within 90 days of hire. A Commercial Driver's License Class B with Tanker Endorsement is highly preferred.
If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
