Plan, organize, and conduct effective cross country practices that develop endurance, running technique, conditioning, pacing, and race strategies.
Design age-appropriate training programs that promote physical fitness while minimizing the risk of injury.
Teach proper warm-up, stretching, cool-down, hydration, and injury prevention techniques.
Prepare student-athletes for interscholastic competition through structured training and conditioning.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, travel, and all team-related activities.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes by following established safety procedures and monitoring weather and course conditions.
Verify that all student-athletes meet district and school eligibility requirements, including academic standards and required athletic documentation.
Encourage academic achievement by monitoring student-athlete progress and emphasizing responsibility in the classroom.
Promote teamwork, leadership, perseverance, discipline, respect, integrity, and positive sportsmanship.
Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages participation and personal growth for all student-athletes.
Coordinate race entries, meet participation, and team logistics with the Athletic Director and event organizers.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, the Athletic Director, school administration, and faculty.
Maintain accurate team rosters, attendance records, meet results, equipment inventories, and required athletic documentation.
Inspect, distribute, collect, and properly store team uniforms and equipment.
Ensure practice routes and competition venues are safe and appropriate for student-athletes.
Ensure compliance with all district policies, school procedures, conference regulations, and applicable athletic association rules.
Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development sessions, and district athletic trainings.
Supervise student-athletes until they are released to a parent, guardian, or other authorized individual following practices and meets.
Report injuries, accidents, disciplinary concerns, or other incidents promptly to the Athletic Director and school administration.
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, ethical behavior, and good sportsmanship.
Encourage parent and community support of the cross country program.
Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.

In order to be considered for this position, applicant must currently possess a valid athletic coaching certificate, or a valid teaching certificate issued by the Florida Department of Education.
