Job Summary
Determining proper business tax requirements, classifications, fees, and contractor registrations. Answer a high volume of telephone calls, assist the public, other departments, and government agencies, and provide excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain digital files for all applications, input new applications, update customer information into the city's computer database, and check related documents for accuracy.
  • Accept zoning use certificates and business tax receipt applications through the Business Tax Receipt portal (Camino)
  • Assist customers with applying for the sidewalk café and rental housing program.
  • Assist in the business tax renewal process.
  • Maintain and process business tax refunds.
  • Monitor, order, and stock all necessary forms, supplies, and applications for department use.
  • Ability to compose correspondence when needed
  • Perform other work as requested.

Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
  • Must have two (2) years of clerical experience in business or regulatory work.
  • Experience and efficiency in typing are a must, as the job involves a significant amount of data entry.
  • A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

License/Certification
  • Certification from the Florida Association of Business Tax Officials is preferred, or you must obtain certification within two (2) years of employment.

Key Competencies
  • Knowledge, or ability to learn, City Ordinances relating to business tax receipt policies and practices.
  • Ability to use a computer, navigate a computer filing system, and web-based software to retrieve information.
  • Knowledge of the city's computer database (Central Square / Naviline) and Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone

Additional Information
Work Days/Hours : Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Possible overtime)
