Job Description:
The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking a part-time, OPS Butterfly Rainforest Production Assistant. A successful applicant should have a positive attitude, the ability to function as a knowledgeable ambassador of our institution and the desire to foster a climate of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.

Specific duties include:

• Working in butterfly conservatory, greenhouse and plant sale.
• Moving soil, equipment, and materials, installing plants, pruning small plant material, propagating plant material, cleaning in water feature, trimming trees, assisting with larger projects, treating for pest problems as directed.
• Maintaining plants and landscape areas in the Vivarium.
• Watering and maintaining greenhouse plants prior to installation in Vivarium and plant sale.
• Cleaning and maintaining Vivarium facilities which includes but is not limited to sweeping, washing exhibit windows, wiping down benches and exhibit panels.
• Maintaining the landscaping and components within the water feature.
• Participating in butterfly spotlight talks, assisting with the preparation of butterfly pupae shipments and record keeping, assisting with rearing case and laboratory cleaning and organization, working at the plant sale and large signature events at the museum.

This position requires availability on weekends.

Expected Salary:
$15.00 per hour
