Description
Senior Electrician performs skilled supervisory work in installing, maintaining and repairing all types of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Supervisory control is exercised over assigned personnel when job assignments require additional workers.
An employee in a position allocated to this classification is responsible for planning, scheduling, designing and ensuring completion of work assignments. The employee performs various inspections and assigns duties as well as participating in the work of subordinate electrician(s) and other personnel. The Senior Electrician receives oral and written work assignments and must be able to interpret blueprints, schematics and electrical diagrams. An employee in this class establishes work procedures and operating requirements and insures conformance with established safety standards. Directions are received from a supervisor, however, because of the employee's technical expertise, the Senior Electrician is required to develop solutions to various problems and inform supervisor(s) of the solution either orally or in writing.
