POSITION SUMMARY: The Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a clean and healthy learning environment in all Pepin Academies facilities.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting/smelling, near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds; over 55 pounds requires a 2-person lift.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity: 3, moderate; extreme cold, extreme heat, wet/humid, work with cleaning chemicals - wear eye protection, vibration/impact, work with or near heavy equipment, proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a clean and healthy learning environment in all Pepin Academies facilities.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a clean and healthy learning environment in all Pepin Academies facilities.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and burnish floors, as well as vacuums and shampoos carpets, as applicable; cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms; cleans and dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces as assigned; removes and disposes of waste products daily; maintains clean custodial closets.
- Performs minor non-cleaning maintenance tasks of facility, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, changing toilet seats, unclogging toilets, changing ceiling tiles, touching up paint, securing window(s), delivering supplies, setting up for facility activities/meetings, and assembling/moving furniture.
- Follows a lawn and facility maintenance program, including but not limited to mowing (pushing and/or riding), weeding, weed-eating, edging, trimming, fertilizing, minor plant replacement, mulching, blowing off sidewalks/curbs, watering, pressure washing, and graffiti removal, as appropriate.
- Opens or closes and secures facility, including but not limited to gates, doors, windows, and alarm systems. Turns on/off all lights, making sure that grounds and facility are free of debris and hazards. Responds to emergencies by securing the perimeter.
- Performs work duties independently and/or as part of a custodial crew depending upon the nature of the task, works cooperatively in group situations, exhibits tact and consideration, displays positive outlook and pleasant manner, offers assistance and support to co-workers, and works actively to resolve conflicts.
- Assumes modified duties and responsibilities of the Lead Custodian or Custodial Crew Leader in the event of absence or vacancy.
- Possess basic comprehensive skills of the working English language.
- Meets attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Dresses appropriately for position. Keeps self well-groomed.
- Wear Pepin provided uniform daily.
- Observes safety and security procedures.
- Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines.
- Uses equipment and materials properly. Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Completion of the ninth school grade.
- Degree or formal training in related field preferred.
- No experience required;
- One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in large scale housekeeping, custodial, or building and grounds maintenance work preferred.
- Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Writes simple correspondence.
- Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must possess basic comprehensive skills of the working English language.
- Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
- Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Computer Skills: Internal Pepin Academies email system and website as appropriate.
- Follows instructions and responds to management direction.
