Role Overview
As a Genetic Counseling Assistant, you will support the genetic counseling program by coordinating patient care workflows, managing documentation, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and external partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments and managing referrals
- Obtaining medical records and required documentation
- Assisting patients with follow-up and general inquiries
- Entering and maintaining patient data in tracking systems and databases
- Uploading and managing documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintaining and monitoring departmental trackers and databases
- Coordinating communication between genetic counselors, clinicians, and patients
- Liaising with commercial laboratories regarding specimen issues, records, and follow-up needs
- Supporting overall clinic workflow and patient experience
Education
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree (Science preferred)
Required:
- One (1) year of related experience (in lieu of Bachelor's degree)
Preferred:
- One (1) year of healthcare or medical-related experience

- Understanding of medical terminology
