Summary Description:

The Tax Accountant position is based in Refresco Beverages US Inc.'s (Refresco) Tampa Executive Headquarters and supports Refresco's US compliance with state and local regulations. Areas of focus include sales and use taxes, property tax, Canada VAT tax, licenses and permits and bottle deposits. In addition, the position will prepare tax account reconciliations. The position requires strong accounting and analytical skills and works closely with other Refresco employees, both in accounting and other functional areas, as well as interacting with government agencies. This position reports to the Sr Tax Manager.

Duties:

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position:

  • Prepare monthly filings and payment requests for North America sales tax returns and recycling deposits and levies
  • Prepare Canada VAT returns including review of purchases for input tax credits
  • Review the setup requirements in SAP for customers, materials and invoicing to ensure customers are invoiced accurately
  • Ensure that resale exemption certificates for customers are obtained and catalogued
  • Assist with the processes for accrual of use tax when not included on vendor invoices
  • Assist with providing manufacturing/exemption certificates to vendors to exempt tax on purchases where applicable
  • Track and manage license filings (permits, business licenses etc)
  • Work with third party to track and manage property tax filings and payments
  • Gather information and prepare responses for audits
  • Prepare or review account reconciliations for tax accounts
  • Understand and monitor the continually changing rules and regulations in each of the jurisdictions that Refresco operates or ships product
  • Maintain documentation of Refresco's requirements by jurisdiction and processes to comply
  • Identify areas of potential noncompliance, develop solutions and implement changes to comply

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with indirect tax and local tax compliance
  • Experience with recycling and deposit regulations
  • Experience with SAP will be helpful, but is not required
  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills
  • Experience retrieving and working with data
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented
  • Able to work under deadline pressures
  • Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or closely related field
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred
  • 2 to 5 years relevant work experience in public accounting or industry

Working Conditions:

Based in Tampa, FL with limited travel requirements
