The Inventory Control Specialist II also known at LYNX as the Inventory Control Tech II is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting efficient flow of materials throughout the organization. This position performs inventory tracking, receiving, shipping, stocking, cycle counts, and materials management activities to ensure parts, supplies, and equipment are available to support operational needs. The role works closely with internal departments, vendors, and warehouse personnel to maintain inventory accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with establish procedures and safety standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priories in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Overview:
- Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming materials using our computerized inventory system.
- Verify shipments against Purchase/Delivery Orders and maintain accurate electronic records.
- Direct the inventory storage activity by lower‑level technicians and coordinate pickups/deliveries of non‑inventory direct turnover items.
- Notify Purchasing/AP of defective or missing items.
- Monitor bulk fuel, fluids, and lubricants manually using stick or automated tank readings.
- Process shipping activities including RMAs/RGAs, BOLs, packaging, and documentation.
- Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, pneumatic lifts, etc.).
- Perform pick‑ups/deliveries between facilities and vendor locations using company vehicles.
- Create spreadsheet reports for workload and material‑movement tracking and special projects.
- Step in to support Inventory Control Tech I duties when needed.
What You Bring:
- High School diploma or GED + 1 year of inventory control experience
- Valid Florida Driver’s License + safe driving record.
- Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including nights/weekends/holidays.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, independence, and customer‑focused communication skills.
- Comfortable with physical activity: lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, bending, kneeling, stairs, etc.
- Forklift Operator License a plus!

Work Environment:
- Primarily warehouse‑based with exposure to weather, fumes, and chemicals as part of daily operations.

Day in the Life:
This position is responsible for the receipt, storage and issue of materials and supplies in a high-density storage facility with limited aisle clearance, shelving and pallet racks. This position reports to the Supervisor of Inventory Control and Material Management and takes direction from higher-grade Inventory Control Technicians.
Essential Functions:

- Counts, sorts, identifies, labels, locates, stores and records incoming items verifying receipt against Purchase and/or Delivery Orders using the software system. Posts receipts and electronic batch for review by the Coordinator and/or Supervisor.
- Receives items in the computerized inventory system for inventory account items.
- Directs the inventory storage activity by lower level technicians, and coordinates the delivery/pick-up of non-inventory direct turnover items and records the activity.
- Notifies Purchasing and Accounts Payable of defective shipments, returned goods and outstanding line items.
- Monitors deliveries and inventories of bulk fuel, fluids, and lubricants with stick or automated tank readings.
- Assists in the resolution of receiving issues.
- Records all shipping activity to include processing of approved Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA)/Return Goods Authorizations (RGA), preparation of biII of ladings (BOL)/shipping tickets/work orders, and proper packaging of items.
- Maintains source documentation for activities and pick-ups/deliveries.
- Operates material handling equipment to unload vehicles and move material between and within high-density storage facility(s). This equipment includes but is not limited to fork truck, pallet jack, handcarts, rolling tables and pneumatic lifts.
- Ships return goods for incorrect items, warranty replacement/repair, over-stock/ship, damaged, return of repairable part cores and other shipments to vendors.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheet reports that document workload, material movement activities and special projects.
- Makes pick-ups and deliveries using available LYNX vehicles and includes dropping off cores and picking up new parts at vendor locations; transfers/makes deliveries of parts and materials between operations bases, buildings and satellite facility(s).
- Assumes the duties of Inventory Control Technician Level I as the situation requires.
Required Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of inventory control experience; or combination of related education, training, and experience.
- Additional directly related experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license and safe driving record.
Desired Qualifications:
- A Forklift Industrial Operator’s license and experience helpful.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of pertinent DOT, OSHA / EPA and HAZMAT regulations.
- Knowledge of proper labeling, receipt, storage, packaging, handling and shipment of HAZMAT products/materials and related items.
- Skills in the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, automated inventory and financial software applications.
- Skills in interpersonal relations with a positive customer-oriented attitude.
- Skills in analysis and organization with attention to details.

Work Environment and Special Considerations:
- Works primarily in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to weather conditions, various fumes, and other chemical agents.
- Must be able to work any shift in a 24-hour / 7 day per week operation to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Will drive a company vehicle for pick-ups and deliveries to and from other LYNX facilities.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, walk (including up and down stairs); dexterity in use of material handling equipment; lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds repetitively.

This position is considered support personnel of LYNX’s emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, shall be expected to return to their normal work schedule as soon as possible or when otherwise notified after the emergency has occurred.
