Emerald Coast Striping, a McShea Contracting company, is a leader in the pavement striping industry. An ever-growing number of government agencies and contractors have selected Emerald Coast Striping to meet their pavement striping needs. In our time of growth, we are looking to add an experienced Operations Manager (Pavement Marking/Road Striping) to our Tallahassee team.

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager (Pavement Marking/Road Striping) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading daily field production to ensure pavement marking projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to Emerald Coast Striping's quality standards. This role partners closely with project management, dispatch, and estimating to translate schedules into executable work plans, allocate crews and equipment, and remove barriers to production. The Operations Manager drives crew performance through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability while maintaining strict compliance with safety requirements, customer expectations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily/weekly production activities across crews to meet contract requirements, production targets, and customer commitments.
• Assign crews, equipment, and materials to jobs; optimize routes and sequencing to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and control costs.
• Conduct pre-job planning (scope review, site readiness, traffic control needs, material staging, and risk assessment) to ensure safe and productive starts.
• Partner with Project Managers to track progress versus schedule/budget; identify constraints early and implement recovery plans when needed.
• Lead safety culture by enforcing PPE, traffic control standards, and safe operating procedures; conduct tailgate meetings, jobsite audits, and corrective actions.
• Monitor quality of workmanship and adherence to specifications; coordinate rework and punch-list completion to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain readiness of fleet and production equipment by coordinating preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and calibration with shop/mechanics.
• Oversee inventory and consumption of production materials (paint, beads, stencils, adhesives, and related supplies); minimize waste and ensure accurate tracking.
• Develop and coach field leaders (foremen/leads); evaluate performance, reinforce standards, and support training and onboarding.
• Serve as the primary field operations point of contact during production hours; communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.
• Complete and review production reporting (daily logs, quantities, labor/equipment hours, incidents, and productivity metrics) and use data to drive improvement.
• Support storm/urgent response or night/weekend work as needed to meet customer and operational demands.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in pavement marking/striping operations or related roadway construction, including leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple crews or coordinating complex schedules in a production environment.
• Strong working knowledge of pavement marking methods, materials, equipment, and common quality requirements.
• Solid understanding of work zone safety and traffic control practices; ability to enforce OSHA and applicable local/state requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications; comfortable with measuring, layout, and quantity tracking.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to lead with clarity and accountability.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL (Class B) preferred or ability to obtain based on role requirements.
• Proficiency with mobile/field reporting tools and basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, scheduling platforms).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required (including lifting up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with both long line and short line operations, including night work and high-traffic environments.
• Lean/continuous improvement mindset with experience tracking KPIs (production rates, utilization, rework, safety observations).
• Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Experience training crews and building standardized work practices.

Working Conditions:
• Primarily outdoor work in all weather conditions, with frequent exposure to traffic, heavy equipment, and construction environments.
• Work may include nights, weekends, and occasional travel based on project schedules and customer needs.
• Requires walking job sites, standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting/moving materials up to 50 lbs.
