The Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the daily administrative and operational functions of the nonprofit organization to ensure efficiency, compliance, and alignment with the organization's mission. This role supports strategic goals by managing internal processes, supervising operational staff, coordinating facilities and resources, and improving systems that enhance service delivery and organizational effectiveness.
Broward Children's Center (BCC) is dedicated to transforming lives by providing specialized care to children and young adults who are medically fragile and developmentally disabled. Our comprehensive services range from 24/7 skilled nursing at our pediatric care facility to developmental education programs, therapeutic support, and family-centered services like respite care, social services, and in-home health support.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible operations, administration, or management experience.
- Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, education, or social services environment preferred.
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of budgeting, compliance, and operational best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across departments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Evaluate current processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure organizational operations align with the mission, goals, and strategic plan.
Administrative Oversight
- Manage administrative functions including office operations, records management, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Oversee facility operations, maintenance schedules, and safety procedures.
- Ensure adequate supplies, equipment, and resources are available for staff and programs.
- Maintain contracts, service agreements, and operational documentation.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, nonprofit regulations, licensing requirements, and internal policies.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
- Support risk management efforts including workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and insurance coordination.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational and employee information.
Financial and Budget Support
- Assist leadership with budget planning and monitoring operational expenditures.
- Review invoices, purchase requests, and vendor contracts for operational needs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality.
Human Resources Support
- Collaborate with Human Resources on onboarding, staffing logistics, training coordination, and employee relations matters as needed.
- Support implementation of organizational policies and employee procedures.
Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise assigned staff, contractors, or volunteers.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment.
Strategic Support
- Participate in leadership meetings and organizational planning initiatives.
- Prepare operational reports, metrics, and recommendations for executive leadership and board committees as requested.
- Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives.
