Schedule and Compensation
- Part-time - flex time + Friday evenings (10 hours per week August through November)
- Hours vary based on game schedules
- Compensation: $15/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of live broadcast and streaming equipment at game sites
- Support live production of Mainstreet Daily News high school football broadcasts, including monitoring stream quality and coordinating commercial transitions
- Conduct or assist with pregame and postgame interviews with coaches and players
- Contribute to pregame and halftime coverage, including scoreboard updates and previews
- Write sports stories, recaps, and related content for publication
- Assist with social media updates during live events as needed
Learning Opportunities
- Gain hands-on experience in live sports production and digital streaming
- Develop interviewing and reporting skills in a real-time newsroom environment
- Learn best practices in multimedia journalism, including audio, video, and written content
- Shadow experienced sports journalists with opportunities for increased on-air or reporting duties
Qualifications
- Interest in sports journalism, broadcasting, or digital media
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to work evenings, particularly Fridays during football season
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, live-event environments
- Reliable transportation to local high school football game sites
- Basic familiarity with social media platforms
