Permitting Specialist - Electrical Utilities
Job Description
Support the Florida Permitting & Engagement Permitting Team by verifying and documenting the local permits required to build electrical substations, including construction permits and local zoning/special exception permits. You'll manage the acquisition of required local permits for substation construction - assembling permit applications and managing the permitting process through final close-out. This role may also manage the acquisition of environmental permits for capital Transmission projects, covering both substation and transmission line projects.
Pay: $25.00- $30.00 per hour DOE

You'll manage the acquisition of required local permits for substation construction - assembling permit applications and managing the permitting process through final close-out. This role may also manage the acquisition of environmental permits for capital Transmission projects, covering both substation and transmission line projects.
Pay: $25.00- $30.00 per hour DOE
Responsibilities:
- Provide site development support to acquire local construction permitting for electrical substation projects within Florida territory
- Acquire environmental permits for Distribution, Transmission line, and substation projects
- Work closely with the substation engineering team on local substation permits
- Collaborate with other teams to support acquisition of environmental permits for lines and substations
- Assemble permit applications and manage requirements through the permitting process to close-out
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or a related field
- Job experience evaluating local zoning ordinances, land development codes, and building permit requirements in Florida
- 1-5 years of experience acquiring environmental permits in Florida
- 1-5 years of experience acquiring zoning and construction permits in Florida
- Site Plan permitting, Land Use Permitting, ROW, and Environmental Permitting experience
- Local land development experience working with municipalities and counties
- Permit acquisition experience
- Civil Engineer or Land Planner background with land development experience
- Erosion Control Plan and SWPPP experience
Preferred:
- Proficient in gaining site development construction permits and environmental permits in Florida
- Experience working for an electric utility
