The purpose of this position is to support Water and/or Wastewater Plant operations by performing preventive and reactive maintenance and repairs to systems and equipment for assigned plant(s). Duties may include troubleshooting and repairing or replacing a variety of pumps, motors, valves, etc.

Plant Mechanic II:

1. Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with vendors, pump representatives, and contractors on-site to request quotes and discuss project requirements.
2. Demonstrate ability to conduct comprehensive condition assessments of system components to identify issues and determine maintenance or repair needs.
3. Competence in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand equipment configurations and assembly or disassembly procedures.
4. Demonstrate ability to conduct insulation resistance tests using a Megger instrument to assess the insulation condition of electrical components.
5. Demonstrate proper utilization and interpretation of thermal imaging camera outputs to identify potential issues or anomalies within the system.
6. Demonstrate ability to inspect and replace wear rings on submersible pumps to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
7. Demonstrate working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems commonly used in industrial machinery, including the ability to troubleshoot performance issues, identify component failures, and perform routine maintenance.
8. Demonstrate ability to safely remove and install impellers on submersible pumps as part of maintenance or repair procedures.
9. Demonstrate the ability to evaluate pump performance by analyzing key parameters such as flow rate, pressure, total dynamic head (TDH). Power consumption, and vibration levels.
10. Proficiency in working with electrical systems, including wiring, circuitry, and control panels.
11. Skilled in replacing bearings and performing precise alignment of motors and pumps to minimize vibration, reduce mechanical stress, and extend equipment lifespan.
12. Demonstrate knowledge of P-Card and procurement procedures for acquiring necessary equipment and supplies.
13. Skill in maintaining accurate records, logs, and documentation related to maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

Senior Plant Mechanic:

1. Understand the principles and processes involved in water and wastewater treatment, including filtration, sedimentation, disinfection, and chemical treatment.
2. Familiarity with Toho Water standards and specifications, ensuring all equipment meets criteria.
3. Ability to identify the need for and to submit GIS red lines for system updates.
4. Ability to analyze data from monitoring equipment and make adjustments to optimize plant performance and efficiency.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques to repair or members are informed and compliant with safety regulations.
6. Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other software tools for scheduling maintenance, managing inventory, and documenting work activities.
7. Demonstrate expertise in performing precision shaft alignment to ensure accurate alignment between motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other machinery components to reduce vibration, prevent premature wear, and extend equipment life in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
8. Identify need for confined space entry. Demonstrate understanding of procedures and oversee a team in performing confined space entry, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
9. Demonstrate an understanding of plumbing principles and the ability to work with pipes, fitting, and fixtures to ensure proper installation and functionality.
10. Demonstrate proficiency in completing pre-hurricane preparation (72 hours prior) and level III hurricane response (36 hours prior) checklists, including placement of generators/bypass pumps for optimal response.
11. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors and other stakeholders to coordinate tasks, report findings, and collaborate on projects.
12. Identify training needs, develop and deliver a training presentation to the department.
13. Demonstrate skill in handling escalated situations with customers/contractors effectively, maintaining professionalism and resolving issues promptly.

Master Plant Mechanic:

1. Demonstrate ability to effectively lead and coordinate a crew, delegating tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in assigning work orders and generating preventative maintenance tasks within INFOR or CityWorks system.
3. Demonstrate understanding or incident reporting protocols and procedures. Ability to accurately complete supervisor incident reports.
4. Demonstrate understanding of payroll processes and procedures within ADP. Ability to effectively validate timesheets for payroll purposes.
5. Proficient in interpreting and comprehending construction and engineering drawings. Demonstrate ability to accurately interpret plan designs for maintenance and repair tasks.
6. Familiarity with equipment procurement processes and capital budgeting principles.
7. Demonstrate knowledge of standby protocols and procedures and ability to effectively manage standby operations.
8. Experience in implementing preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment. Proficiency in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.
9. Demonstrate an understanding of performance management policies and procedures. Participate in employee performance review process to evaluate employee performance. Provide assistance with processes related to documentation of employee conduct.
10. Understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines governing treatment operations, including environmental standards and reporting requirements.
11. Ability to evaluate entire system's performance and understand how mechanical components interact with electrical and control systems.
12. Demonstrated competency in time management and resources allocation for repair projects.
13. Commitment to staying updated on advancements in water treatment technology, industry best practices, and relevant certifications or training opportunities.

Plant Mechanic II:

1. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
2. Minimum of five years relevant work experience working in either a utility or Industrial setting with a focus on motors, pumps, piping and control.
3. Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
5. As a condition of employment, must obtain State of Florida Class A Driver's License within first six months of employment.

Senior Plant Mechanic:

1. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
2. Minimum of eight years' relevant work experience working in either a utility or Industrial setting with a focus on motors, pumps, piping and control.
3. Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
5. As a condition of employment, must obtain State of Florida Class A Driver's License within first six months of employment.
   

Master Plant Mechanic:

1. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
2. Minimum of ten years' relevant work experience working in either a utility or Industrial setting with a focus on motors, pumps, piping and control.
3. Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
5. As a condition of employment, must obtain State of Florida Class A Driver's License within first six months of employment.
