Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the pool deck, beach areas, cabana service, towel operations, and poolside/beachside F&B support.
- Ensure guest service is delivered in line with luxury hospitality standards and brand expectations.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of pool and beach zones, including furniture setup, water cleanliness, communication, and environmental conditions.
- Monitor workflows, staffing levels, and service flow to optimize efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest inquiries, conflicts, or service recovery with professionalism and urgency.
- Coordinate with engineering for timely resolution of pool equipment or facility issues.
Staff Management & Development
- Lead, train, and manage pool attendants, beach attendants, cabana hosts, pool and beach bartenders, pool and beach servers and pool supervisors.
- Develop onboarding and ongoing training programs for safety, service standards, product knowledge, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coach employees, and support professional growth.
- Create staff schedules based on occupancy, weather conditions, and business needs.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented service culture.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Uphold Proper Hospitality's service philosophy by delivering seamless, attentive, and anticipatory guest experiences.
- Monitor and enhance guest touchpoints, including cabana amenities, towel service, and poolside F&B delivery efficiency.
- Utilize guest feedback to continuously improve overall operations and service offerings.
- Create and support poolside activities, events, and experiences that enhance guest engagement and drive revenue.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all local health, safety, and environmental regulations, including pool water quality standards.
- Train staff on emergency response procedures including water safety, CPR, and incident reporting.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, walkways, pool furniture, and storage areas.
- Ensure proper handling and safety of pool chemicals by designated staff.
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Oversee inventory of towels, amenities, cabana supplies, uniforms, and operating equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders to ensure consistent availability without overstocking.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and track usage patterns.
- Ensure pool furniture, umbrellas, and equipment are maintained, repaired, or replaced as needed.
Financial Management & Revenue Support
- Assist in developing operational budgets and forecasts for pool and beach areas.
- Manage labor costs, amenity costs, and equipment expenses in line with budget expectations.
- Oversee Cabana rental programs or other premium services to maximize revenue.
- Collaborate with F&B to drive poolside/beachside sales through promotions or signature offerings.
Sales, Events & Marketing Support
- Partner with marketing to promote pool & beach events, seasonal services, and exclusive guest experiences.
- Support coordination and execution of private events on the pool deck or beach.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in luxury hospitality, pool/beach operations, resort recreation, or related environment.
- Experience managing large teams in high-traffic guest-facing operations.
- Strong knowledge of pool and beach safety standards, guest service best practices, and operational logistics.
- CPR, Lifeguard, or First Aid certification preferred
Skills / Specialized Knowledge
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with an eye for personalization and anticipatory service.
- Ability to manage fast-paced outdoor environments and adapt to weather and operational changes.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication abilities to engage guests, staff, and cross-functional departments.
- Ability to analyze operational data, track performance, and implement improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and POS/guest-service management systems.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in outdoor environments.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (furniture, equipment, supplies).
- Frequent bending, reaching, and movement required to maintain pool and beach areas.
- Ability to work varying schedules including weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
- Comfortable working in heat, sun, and outdoor weather conditions for prolonged periods.
