VanEck's Summer Intern Program includes exposure across the firm through educational, mentorship, and networking events. As an Intern, you will also be exposed to the firm's senior management, gain an understanding of the financial services industry and learn critical business skills. The Portfolio Administration department consists of over 50 staff members across numerous teams. Most of the team is based in Tampa but a strong complement is New York. The department works closely with professionals throughout the entire firm including portfolio managers, traders, marketing, compliance and IT. This position will provide an Intern with exposure throughout all teams and obtain a foundational understanding of an asset manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Rotate through Portfolio Administration teams (Security and Portfolio Analytics, Fund Services and Operations, Trade Settlement, Reporting and Analytics, Accounting Oversight, Regulatory Reporting), with defined project deliverables in each rotation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Rotate through Portfolio Administration teams (Security and Portfolio Analytics, Fund Services and Operations, Trade Settlement, Reporting and Analytics, Accounting Oversight, Regulatory Reporting), with defined project deliverables in each rotation
- Build out Key Performance Indicator reporting tool to highlight important trends
- Update, standardize, and publish desktop procedures for assigned teams to the shared drive
- Develop tactical solutions across the department using AI tools (Claude), with documented use cases and handoff instructions
- Perform annual data quality audits, including the Everbridge/BCP contact list and vendor and reference data cleanups
- Assist with operational responsibilities such as month-end reporting, audit packages, and the semi-annual financial reporting process
- Historical review of Sub TA/Rev share agreements and the vendor log/matrix
- Review and organize the process for receiving and recording invoices
- Deliver a final presentation to department leadership and submit documented work product before the final week
Qualifications
- Passion for investing and an understanding of financial markets
- Exposure to different asset classes (equity, fixed income, spots, forwards, options, futures, swaps, cryptocurrency) and investment products (mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, separately managed accounts, tokenized products)
- Quantitative and technical orientation; experience in data analysis and general data flow is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; exposure to PowerPoint
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude
Education and/or Experience
- Currently entering senior level or beyond within a 4-year college program. Undergraduate studies in business, finance, accounting, economics or relevant degree
- Some experience within a corporate environment is helpful but not required
Compensation
- The maximum hourly rate for this position is $25 an hour
