We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support daily accounting operations, accounts payable, and prepare ad hoc reports. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage accounts payable, including reviewing invoices, verifying coding and approvals, and processing timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain accurate vendor records.
- Prepare accounts payable aging reports and payment schedules to support cash flow planning.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, account activity, and budget-to-actual variances.
- Develop ad hoc reports and analyses to support management decisions.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for audits and tax preparation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with department leaders to obtain information and resolve accounting issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis.
- Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with vendors, management, and team members.
- Experience supporting multiple companies or locations is preferred.
