POSITION OVERVIEW
American Infrastructure Development, Inc. (AID) is seeking a motivated Civil Project Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer with approximately 5-15 years of experience to join its growing Tampa team.
This position offers the opportunity to play a meaningful role in aviation, airport and civil infrastructure projects throughout Florida, the United States and the Caribbean. The selected engineer will be responsible for civil design, technical production, project coordination, permitting and construction-phase support for airside and landside infrastructure improvements.
Depending on experience, the selected professional may serve as a Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer or developing Project Manager. The position can be structured around the candidate's technical capabilities, professional licensure, aviation experience and readiness to assume project and client leadership responsibilities.

The anticipated base salary range is $100,000-$145,000 annually.
The lower portion of the range is intended for engineers with approximately 5-7 years of experience who demonstrate strong Civil 3D capabilities and are developing into independent project leadership.
The middle of the range is intended for experienced Project Engineers or Senior Project Engineers who can lead design assignments, coordinate project teams and communicate directly with clients.
The upper portion of the range is intended for candidates who bring a Florida Professional Engineer license, aviation or airport experience, project-management capabilities, client relationships or the ability to lead significant portions of a civil or aviation infrastructure program.
Final compensation will be based on experience, Civil 3D proficiency, professional licensure, aviation project exposure, technical leadership, project-management capabilities and overall alignment with the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Civil Engineering and Design
- Prepare and oversee civil engineering designs, calculations, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Use Autodesk Civil 3D to develop and review surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading plans, pipe networks, utility layouts and construction documents.
- Perform or oversee the design of runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, access roads, parking areas and associated airport infrastructure.
- Prepare grading, drainage, stormwater, earthwork, erosion-control and utility designs.
- Develop plan sets, technical specifications, engineering reports, quantity calculations and construction cost estimates.
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate civil improvements with airport facilities, utilities, architecture, aviation planning and construction requirements.
- Apply applicable FAA, FDOT, municipal, county, environmental and airport-specific design standards.
- Participate in technical reviews and AID's formal quality-assurance and quality-control process.
- Review work prepared by junior engineers, designers and CAD professionals.
- Ensure deliverables are accurate, complete and submitted according to project schedules.
Project Coordination and Leadership
- Coordinate with architects, aviation planners, engineers, surveyors, environmental professionals, contractors and airport representatives.
- Assist project managers with scope, schedule, budget, quality and client-delivery responsibilities.
- Lead portions of civil and aviation infrastructure projects based on experience.
- Assign and coordinate work with junior engineers and designers.
- Monitor project progress and communicate potential schedule, budget or technical concerns.
- Participate in project meetings, design workshops and client presentations.
- Prepare meeting notes, action items, technical memoranda and progress reports.
- Communicate project priorities, challenges and proposed solutions clearly.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, agencies and project partners.
- Support proposal preparation, project pursuits and business-development activities when appropriate.
- Mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute to their technical development.
Permitting and Regulatory Coordination
- Prepare or oversee permit applications and supporting technical documentation.
- Coordinate with municipal, county, state and federal agencies.
- Support FAA, FDOT, environmental and local permitting requirements.
- Respond to agency review comments and revise construction documents as required.
- Coordinate with utility providers and permitting authorities.
- Maintain an understanding of applicable aviation, civil and environmental regulations.
Construction Administration and Field Support
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, site visits and field investigations.
- Review shop drawings, contractor submittals, product data and material certifications.
- Respond to requests for information and contractor questions.
- Assist with construction observation and evaluation of field conditions.
- Review proposed design changes and help resolve construction conflicts.
- Support pay-application reviews, quantity verification and change-order evaluation when required.
- Participate in substantial-completion inspections, punch-list development and project closeout.
- Coordinate with Resident Project Representatives, inspectors and construction managers.
- Help ensure that completed work generally conforms to approved plans, specifications and design intent.
- Support construction phasing in active and operational airport environments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Approximately 5-15 years of relevant civil engineering, site-development, transportation or infrastructure design experience.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Experience preparing civil construction plans and technical design documents.
- Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, pavement or site-development design.
- Ability to interpret surveys, geotechnical information, design criteria, specifications and construction documents.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Understanding of civil permitting and regulatory requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently manage assignments, deadlines and changing priorities.
- Ability to review technical work and provide constructive direction to junior staff.
- Willingness to visit project sites and travel occasionally when required.
- Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Florida Professional Engineer license.
- Professional Engineer license in another state with the ability to obtain Florida registration.
- Engineer-in-Training certification for candidates who have not yet obtained a PE license.
- Previous aviation or airport engineering experience.
- Experience with runway, taxiway, apron or airfield pavement projects.
- Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design standards.
- Familiarity with FDOT standards and Florida permitting requirements.
- Experience with roadway or transportation infrastructure.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Hydraflow, ICPR, AutoTURN, Bluebeam or similar engineering software.
- Experience with construction administration, field observation or contractor coordination.
- Familiarity with stormwater modeling, utility design and regulatory permitting.
- Experience managing design tasks, project budgets or project schedules.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and CAD professionals.
- Client-management or business-development experience.
- Experience serving as Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Task Manager or Project Manager.
