Network Security Engineer - Firewall Migration (Check Point → Fortinet | AWS & Azure)

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer with deep expertise in Fortinet security technologies and proven experience migrating physical Check Point firewalls to Fortinet solutions deployed in AWS and Azure cloud environments. This role is ideal for a highly technical engineer who excels in secure network design, implementation, and troubleshooting across hybrid and cloud infrastructures.

Spanish language proficiency is required, as the client is Spanish-speaking.

Project Overview

The engagement focuses on the end-to-end migration of existing physical Check Point firewalls to Fortinet firewalls hosted in AWS and Azure. The engineer will play a key role in planning, executing, validating, and optimizing the migration while ensuring minimal disruption to production environments.

We are hiring two dedicated resources for this project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of Check Point physical firewalls to Fortinet firewalls in AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Design, configure, and optimize Fortinet security solutions, including policies, VPNs, routing, segmentation, and high-availability setups.
• Analyze existing Check Point configurations and translate them into equivalent or improved Fortinet implementations.
• Implement and troubleshoot cloud-based firewall deployments, including VPC/VNet integration, routing, and security controls.
• Perform advanced network security administration, including rule optimization, traffic analysis, and threat mitigation.
• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless migration and integration.
• Document configurations, migration steps, and operational procedures.
• Provide post-migration support, tuning, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, etc.).
• Experience migrating or supporting Check Point firewalls (knowledge is a plus but not mandatory).
• Proven experience deploying and managing firewalls in AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Strong understanding of:
  
  • Firewall policies and NAT
  • VPNs (IPsec/SSL)
  • Routing and segmentation
  • Cloud networking (VPCs, VNets, subnets, gateways, peering)
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues across hybrid environments.
• Spanish language proficiency (required).

Additional Details

• Project Duration: Up to 12 months (client may conclude earlier if needed).
• Work Location: Primarily remote; may require working from our Miami office.
