Job Summary

Salary:

Fire Plans Examiner I: $29.41- $37.505

Fire Plans Examiner II: $30.06- $39.83

Under general supervision, performs fire safety reviews of plan and sites to ensure new construction and/or renovations of structures are in compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local codes, ordinances, regulations, and statutes. May inspect construction and alterations in the field to ensure compliance with codes and specifications. Makes recommendations, resolves problems, and educates. May perform other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Fire Plans Examiner I: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate supplemented with college, vocational, or technical courses in fire safety, inspection, plan review, or closely related field and two (2) years experience performing building inspections or plan checking of building construction, fire suppression, or related field. Must possess valid Fire Safety Inspector I Certificate as required by the State of Florida Statute 633, and a valid Florida Driver's License.

Fire Plans Examiner II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate supplemented with college, vocational, or technical courses in fire safety, inspection, plan review, or closely related field and four (4) years experience as a Fire Plans Examiner. Must possess valid Fire Safety Inspector II Certificate as required by the State of Florida Statute 633, and a valid Florida Driver's License.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
